Florida Stone Crab season is in full swing. These deliciously sweet and meaty claws are a favorite with the locals and tourists. Stone Crabs are a lesser-known cousin of the Maine lobster and the Maryland blue crab that has equally devoted fans. The meat is firm, with a flavor not as strong as lobster's but more distinctive than blue crab's. They are it's easier to eat than most crab, all you get is the big, meaty claw, which has usually been cracked for easy picking. Like lobsters, stone crabs are boiled in plain water, and best eaten in a local restaurant along the water, with one of our picturesque sunsets. Lobster season is in full swing! If you don't want to catch them, you can still enjoy this tasty treat. The restaurants are full of them
